10 Reasons Why I make my Bed - by Jeremy Holloway

1. What if this was your last day (to make it)?

This may be eerie, but it helps to think of it this way.  Keep your house the way you would want the police and detectives to see your house if this was your last day. If this was your last day, what messages would you like to leave for your kids, your family, your friends, and the entire world?  If this was your last day, all people would see you this way, forever.  There's no last chance to say different, or make a another message to leave everyone. .  If this was your last day, what would you want the world to see about you?  What message do you want people to read about you from the area you stay in?

2.  Personal Responsibility

This is my own opinion, but not making the bed sends the message that I'm putting things off...for...something else, or someone else.  I make my bed to send the message, I WILL be responsible for my decisions.

3. My message for today

My message for today is.  Yes, you are valuable.  Yes, you are worth it.  Yes, I'm going to dress you to the T today.  You deserve it.  This is a beautiful day and I intend to dress it up : )

4. Intimate care about and for myself.

Especially when people are not looking.  The bed can easily represent what is inside the heart.  The bed is perhaps one of the only things we have to clean everyday, that is ours, but we don't necessary have to show everybody...it's just something very personal to us.  Do we nurture the things people don't see often?

5. Represent

What do you want this day to represent?  The bed is the first opportunity to give a message to this day.  What will this day represent to you?  Were you too busy?  Or will you take time to do what needs to be done today?

6.  Practice:  1st things 1st

As mentioned, the first act we have to clean besides ourselves is the bed / bedroom.  We start the day off with a practice of putting things in to order.
Our practices send us on a spiral to other practices similar to that first one.  This practice sends the first thing to the second...sounds redundant but think of it this way:  That first thing writes its signature on everything after it.  What ever the first thing is will write its signature on all you do, so what first things are you putting first?

7. Making the bed is a gift

Making the bed is a gift, giving us the opportunity to start the day off right.  It gives us a chance to choose:  Okay, what will may day be like?  Am I going to choose today to live my best or just cut corners and try to just get by?   Making the bed gives yourself the great gift: give yourself dignity, care, order, and structure to the day.

8. Making the bed leaves a practice for other people to follow

If you live with someone or if someone has the opportunity to see your bed daily, it sends the message of 1-7, 9 and 10 to all who see it.  This man cares about his day.  He's not just going to let things slide.  She's not just taking or accepting excuses as to why to not accomplish what needs to be done.  They take care of things even when  or if people don't see it.   To me, it's the first sign of success to give for yourself, for others and for the day.

9. There is no other day to get it done.

If you wait for the next day to make the bed, that day never comes and sends you towards a spiral of attitudes similar throughout your life.  There is no other day to finish the job.   Making the bed reminds us that today is the only day we may have to do it.  Today, might be the last day or it may be the first day. ;)  Make this day fresh, after all, its all we have : )

10.  No one can afford not to make the bed

People lose the fight from the first acts of the day.  I live by a corner, an intersection.  Now, the two roads appear to be going adjacent to each other, but they are not perpendicular; in fact they are actually at a 5 degree angle difference to one another so that if you go down one street from the other street, if you go down about 5 minutes down the road, the further you go, the further away you are from that other road, though they look adjacent.  Sometimes, that 5 or 10 degree act of direction and send your day miles towards the better direction than you think.  You can not afford not to make that bed.  Making it will take your attitude about your day far.

This is not a message to make you feel bad about yourself, but to help you understand the potential of your day and your ability to make it EVERYTHING it can be for you.  God bless you as you give your all, not just in making the bed, but in practicing putting first things first.  God speed!

Almost... : )

Today, I ran 10 miles and I almost stopped...Ahh, it feels good to be able to say the words..almost.

I almost gave up!

I almost failed!

I almost fail down!

But God!

Sabine Spitz of Germany celebrates her victory in the women's mountain bike on Saturday.Listen, there is a great lesson in this!  The grace of God.  Running is like the cycle of life.  I began running today with the idea that I would only run 3 to 4 miles.  I thought like this because it felt like I couldn't go on that long today.  In fact, after about 5 minutes, I felt like stopping!  Can you imagine!  I felt like stopping after a couple of minutes, and I ended up running with power and perseverance for over 2 hours.  How is this?  God.  After two minutes of running, after feeling like "giving up" : ) I chuckled to myself because a. I knew I had been through this before, b. I knew what my body was capable of, and c. I trusted that even if I did run out of energy, the Holy Spirit had truly given me strength before and I know about the second and third (so on) wind.  So I kept going.

After running for a half hour, I suddenly had power to run with zeal and ease.  This was like a cycle.  After a few minutes that zeal tapered and then the zeal would come back.  It reminded me that life is just alike. My only thing is to keep going, keep running.

At one point, I felt like stopping, but as i slowed down i realized that it felt like it would be more difficult for me if I would stop.  I could feel the rhythm that my body had grown strong and gained strength in.  It would be a shame to break that rhythm that I worked to hard at generating.  So I kept running and decided I would not stop until I reached my house.  And I did.  And now I have a lesson.  Yes.  I ran to get a lesson.  What's the lesson?

Almost.. : )

How great it is to be able to tell your children that you ALMOST failed.  You ALMOST gave up.   You ALMOST had it.  But GOD!  : D    God lives to give as a story.  He longs to give us a testimony.  What's yours today?

God is the first and last Hallelujah!

We do not exercise to look a certain way, but to learn a certain way, to learn in a certain Name.  Teach me your ways Oh Lord.

Better to learn.

Better to be loved by those who can reprimand you than to be honored amongst those who hate you.

Better to be taught than to be pampered.  Better pain and diamond lessons, than comfortable and a life that stinks.

I can see your life is like a diamond.  You are beautiful and the aroma you give, God loves  : )

Have a blessed Memorial Day.  We remember those who sacrificed for our country.  God is well pleased : )

Everything Responds to the beating of the heart

Everything responds to the beating of our hearts. I saw it.  Look at the sky.  Have you ever wondered why the sky is a perfect blue on Holidays and you feel this warm feeling inside from the ambiance or atmosphere?  Coincidence?  No.  The disciples were worried in the seas and there was a storm..Jesus woke up and with compassion spoke at the seas and they calmed down; the waters have to obey.   Listen.  The very ground responds to the beating of your heart.  Have you ever read about the nourishment of a plant?   Study showed when people speak to and touch with tenderness a plant, it will blossom, if not, it will wither.  Listen, the skies, the clouds, the seas, the ground, they all respond to the beating of our hearts.   This is no mystery.  Your heart gives a certain rhythm, a constant vibration, this same signal is what every creature communicates with.   Calm hearts send a message of peace.  Hurting hearts beat stronger and can send a message of fear or of concern.  Even the ground listens (Genesis 4:10). With enough hearts beating with pains, this is enough to start the shaking of the ground itself.  Peoples, all peoples, were hurting at the time of Noah, but Noah's heart beated after God's own heart because he walked with God. That's how Noah could hear God say, "Make a boat, because the earth can not take this kind of pain much longer."   When Jesus died, the ground shook.  Listen.  They skies have to respond to the beating of your heart.  God says to us: So be still and know He is God.

Elephant in the room. Do you know what the elephant in the room is?  It reflects the beating of your heart. A vibration that is not at peace with someone elses. That vibration (recognizing the beat of one's own heart)  is the first language. [people's first language and instinct.  Respond to your first instinct.]   All nature. The air.  All things respond to your words - because as you think or say them, it ALWAYS gives out a certain vibration from the beating of your heart, and that is what everything in the earth responds to.  Sometimes you might walk passed someone and feel fear, that might be the emotion you are feeling from the other person.  You may feel warm inside as you walk around people, this might be the waves that people are giving off around you of delight and peace.   Knowing this, you have great power to impact your entire city with the beating of your heart.   Meditate of the Word of God Most High.  Not long from now, the beating of your heart will heal sicknesses and diseases and heal the broken.   Just walk in/with God.

When you stand with composure.   In a room of busy minded people, if you feel liberated and free, you might feel embarrassed to show it because of the people who feel differently.  It's the same if you step into a room and contaminate the room with integrity, strength, straight composure and confidence...soon a sheepish person may walk in the room and feel embarrassed to feel so; instead, they will be free to stand strong straight with composure and victory!

So walk uprightly, in the name above all names!  Jesus.  Watch the skies clear around you.  Watch broken lives be healed in Jesus' name.   Amen!

Faith, Hope, and Love :)

"And so faith, hope, love abide [faith—conviction and belief respecting man’s relation to God and divine things; hope—joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love—true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love."

1 Corinthians 13:13 from The Amplified Bible
