Performance Vs Identity

We are always tempted with performance; to receive something we already have based on who we already are.  It is not necessary to perform for performance sake.  We are because God is.  God says, "Be still and know that I am God."  We are a child of the King.  I've learned this:  No need to perform, ever.  When we do, we do it out of knowing who we are and out of a desire to glorify God with compassion for His people from the inside.

See how Jesus performed a miracle and why, when he did perform.  Throughout the Bible notice the emotions that Jesus felt before he "performed" a miracle: It was out of

and why does it mention these things?   The motive.  The motive is very important and it is noted in heaven what are motives are.   Jesus never "performed" out of anything but mercy and grace.   Note one important thing:  every "performance" Jesus had done and is doing is based off of compassion and came from His very being who He already is.

With you it is the same.  Every temptation is that is common to man is this to perform to do something to get something we already have based on the child of God we already are.

You are a child of the most High God : )  How amazing is the fact that we are God's child made already in His very image!

Read Matthew 4:1-11

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”

11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him."

Know who you are and live in who you are, not performing.  You are His.  You are loved.  That is your identity : )

If you'd like to accept Jesus into your life today, pray this simple prayer of God's love and grace today: Lord Jesus, I thank you for dying for all my sin; now Lord I invite you into my heart. Come and be my everything today and forever. Forgive my sin as I make You and you alone Lord in my life. Amen. Now read the book of God's love in the Bible: The book of John chapters 1-21. God promises He will guide your life. Pray and ask God to bring the right people into your life. God will guide you to the right church full of people who love His words in the Bible. Our God is so faithful. God bless you today.
