Our Sacrifice and Our Worship

Our Sacrifice and Our Worship

Sacrifice and worship work in an interesting way.   Look in Exodus. The Bible records how the Israelites worshiped the golden calf, which I thought was very interesting because they did not realize that the very thing they are worshiping is the very type of thing they need to be sacrificing for atonement.  Later, Moses gives them the direction to make sacrifices of a certain animal for the atonement of their sins.   So instead of worshiping animals they were to sacrifice them to remain in fellowship with God.   It is often that way with us.  Jesus became God's sacrificial lamb that was sacrificed so we can focus on God who gave Jesus for us.   Jesus is God in the flesh who gave his life for our sin once and for all so that we could be connected with God forever to worship Him forever by grace and faith in God and the Lord Jesus who God provided.  This is so that forever the center of our focus can be on God through grace and faith in Jesus.  Jesus gave his life as a living sacrifice so that his life could be used by God.    We have to remember this when survey our talents, our abilities and other things we could be fooled to depend on if we are not careful.   Take me, for example, I could worship my guitar, but I realize I need to sacrifice it to be used for God for it to bear any lasting and real fruit in my life.  Abraham had Isaac, but Abraham needed to sacrifice Isaac deep in his heart in order for him to be officially used by God to bless the nations.  So in the same way, we must check the heart to make sure the things that we desire in our life are not the things we are worshiping but the things that we are constantly sacrificing to God to be used by God for God's purposes.  The point of this sacrifice is so that we can keep and sustain the main object and focus of our worship, which is Jesus, God's purpose for our lives.

That is why, things that we desire, we must always remember to sacrifice them to God so that our main focus of worship can and always will be to God who is Lord of All.   Let's pray for one another to have a fixed desire of our worship on Jesus.  He is worthy of all our worship and all our praise.

If you'd like to accept Jesus into your life today, pray this simple prayer of God's love and grace today: Lord Jesus, I thank you for dying for all my sin; now Lord I invite you into my heart. Come and be my everything today and forever. Forgive my sin as I make You and you alone Lord in my life. Amen. Now read the book of God's love in the Bible: The book of John chapters 1-21. God promises He will guide your life. Pray and ask God to bring the right people into your life. God will guide you to the right church full of people who love His words in the Bible. Our God is so faithful. God bless you today.
