Confession. Confession. Confession. (Good for the Soul) :)

Confession is a habit that when used can be good for the soul.  Confession has been on my heart these days.  One man said "Using confession to live honestly and consciously...is an art to be learned and a skill to be practiced...Confession is, quite simply, an attitude. It is the cornerstone of the intentional life." (Paul Wilke) ,

Confession isn't just admitting that you are wrong about something.  It's not related to feelings as much as we may think.  Confession is simply a way of life.  It's being truthful and honest about yourself and your environment from God's perspective.   Simply put, it's testifying to the truth as you (as a Christian) have discovered.

Criticism of others and confession to others is interesting, so I looked up the dictionary account for "criticism" and that for "confession." The old Latin word for confession is "confiteri" which means to acknowledge.  "Criticism" means mostly to find fault and usually to others.  Criticism is normally not healthy and we have to make sure that we share information about others in an edifying way, being clear about why we share the information we share.  Criticism to somebody to their face one on one is not bad.   This is called accountability.  Criticism to others about others for no clear reason is not useful.  This can be called gossip.  It is best to say away from this type of behavior because it can also become a bad habit and start to blur the lines of "healthy confession."  Also, one on one, we have to be clear and edifying still when we come to others with a fault.  Clarity and humility is key.

Confession is admitting the truth about something good or bad.  There is a such thing as a good confession.  Good confession is a good practice and it good for the soul.  Paul writes to Timothy, "Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."  (1 Tim 6:12)

A good confession is a confession to God's great and good work in and around us.  My prayer is to be good at spreading a good confession.  Confession is being transparent.  If you feel a certain way, with respect, you say it.   Confession is a true expression.  Let's pray for one another to be good witnesses in spreading the good confession daily to ourselves and others.

If you'd like to accept Jesus into your life today, pray this simple prayer of God's love and grace today: Lord Jesus, I thank you for dying for all my sin; now Lord I invite you into my heart. Come and be my everything today and forever. Forgive my sin as I make You and you alone Lord in my life. Amen. Now read the book of God's love in the Bible: The book of John chapters 1-21. God promises He will guide your life. Pray and ask God to bring the right people into your life. God will guide you to the right church full of people who love His words in the Bible. Our God is so faithful. God bless you today.
