Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
I believe that everything we think of comes pouring out of us every second of every moment of every day. That is why purity is so important to keep.
Now this I'm about to say is my own opinion so just call me crazy but this is what I think. To me the latter thing I explained can explain when men or a woman looks at the opposite sex. Have you ever noticed that you can look at an attractive man and not be sexual tempted at all, but you can look at someone else who isn't even as attractive and feel yourself being sexually tempted? I can attest when I was younger looking at a beautiful woman and not thinking sexually what so ever (these women usually had a brain you know what I'm saying), but then looking at a less attractive girl I found I was being sexually tempted. I found this to be strange. But now I seriously believe that what we think about comes out as a message to other people and can easily distract not only us but others as well. This also means that what we think about can also not only be healing to us but to others as well. Maybe this applies to all creation.
That is why it is so important to guard your heart and your thought life. You may have heard of the law of attraction. If you think about something you are attracting that thing. Perhaps, but I think if you are thinking about something if it's not what God wants for you, you are derailing, sidetracking, and distracting yourself and others. We are not alone.
I personally do not think we attract more than we generate what we think. A girl or a man who thinks about sexual immorality for example will birth this thing in their lives, but a person who is of a pure heart, though they might be tempted with such things, those things will slide right off of him or her. The person who meditates on Jesus will bring salvation to themselves and others in their lives.
So let's be careful. Let's make other hungry for Jesus by the way we live.
About temptations. I don't think it is the way the person necessarily looks that tempts us. I believe it first comes from the way that person thinks, which is translated to the body which makes the body move (according to those thoughts) in the rhythm to those thoughts; in this way the body moves the body is giving signals to other people how to respond to you and they get a first impression about who you are. This is VERY important. That is why you can not hide a single thought you think. Though you might say one thing, your body tells all.
So make your confessions clear and stay pure before God. Don't let yourself be ruled by your emotions or your thought life. In everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God and let the peace of God which surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus, our Lord. (Philippians 4:6-7)
