Last week my wife gave me a super awesome shake filled with all kinds of vitamins and minerals. This is love : )
But here's something I thought about. Something I thought about after receiving her wonderful gift. She gives in the right way. We all need to not just give, but give in a certain way. We need to give not only with a good happy attitude, but give unconditionally. Giving has really nothing to do with the article you are giving but in the spirit you give it. Next time you give to someone, pray over what you are giving; pray for the person while you are preparing the present. Pray that the Spirit of God bless that person every time they see or use that gift. Then when you pray, note this: it only counts when you give unconditionally. What do I mean? I mean when we give in the right spirit (of grace, obedience, etc), as we give having no complaints in mind, nor do we have any thoughts of, "Well, he/she better like this gift, I've worked so hard for this, if she doesn't like this then..." then our giving is very blessed. The other is NOT the way we give and if we do give like that REMEMBER THIS: that is NOT giving in any positive sense. It's not the item we give but thoughts about the person we are giving to t hem. We would be better off not to give it at all because without the spirit, the action is heavy and a burden.
Have you ever eaten empty calories before? How did you feel after that? I mean, not only do we fill like it was a waste of time and experience, but now we have to expend energy for something not even worth consuming, it's the same with a gift given with the wrong attitude or spirit.
Instead, let's practice giving while we give. : ) Meaning let's practice not just the transaction but the whole heart; the complete action and the spirit of (and the why to) our giving. Soak that in! Think of this: Why are we giving to this person? What have they done for us? If we want we can also think: What has God done for us? How is it a blessing to give? How am I thankful for this person? How am I thankful to God for giving so much to me? Let's think about that on purpose, deliberately while we are giving, our gift will mean so much more. Let's think of this while we are cooking for that person, our food will taste so much better! As we are preparing by wrapping the present, etc.
I'm going to mention this because I had a meeting the day I wrote this: When you are in a room with other people, don't just think about the fact that you are there, what do you look like or how do you look in front of them, allow me to remind you to think about them and pray silently for them while you are there and understand that you are giving your time for them on purpose. You are giving, I mean really giving to them all of you, as you spend your time for them as you stand in front of them. Stay aware and prayerful and thankful for the people that are around you and (pray for God's help to do this!) God will open up some AMAZING doors not just for you but I believe indefinitely for the people around you. Amen.
I'm convinced and convicted to also give when I am present with my wife and family. Men of God, women of God, let's pray: God help me not to have any sour attitude towards my wife, husband, children, other family members in (and outside of) her/his/their presence. Give me a grateful heart God and help me to give especially when I don't have to but have the ability to do so. Help me to be the best present to my wife under God on purpose and also a conscious blessing to those around me, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
If you'd like to accept Jesus into your life today, pray this simple prayer of God's love and grace today: Lord Jesus, I thank you for dying for all my sin; now Lord I invite you into my heart. Come and be my everything today and forever. Forgive my sin as I make You and you alone Lord in my life. Amen. Now read the book of God's love in the Bible: The book of John chapters 1-21. God promises He will guide your life. Pray and ask God to bring the right people into your life. God will guide you to the right church full of people who love His words in the Bible. Our God is so faithful. God bless you today.
