Winning in God's kingdom is about three things: Feed yourself, Clothe Yourself, and Learn to Find the Right Shelter

Victory, walking with the Lord in God's kingdom is victory when you learn three things.  Let me ask you,  Are you clothed?  Have you eaten?  Do you know where to find shelter?

First, Are you clothed?

"(12) Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (13) Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. (14) And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."   Colossians 3:12-14

I'll cut to the chase.   Some of you are wanting God to do something AMAZING for you in your life out there, but you feel like God is keeping you sheltered, hiding you away, keeping you from being out there!  Well, no wonder.  You haven't learned how to clothe yourself yet!   Look, God loves us too much to have us go out there unclothed.  It is a cold, cold world out there, and if we do not learn how to clothe ourselves, we can be in too much danger to be out there yet.  1 Peter 5:5b says,

"All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,

“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”

God will oppose of the idea of sending you out there unclothed because he loves you too much to see you be defeated by the cold in the middle of winter.   You can win, you just need to learn how to be clothed.  Let's learn how to put on our clothes, and be clothed with God's righteousness!

Have you learned how to eat?

"I am the living bread that came down out of heaven"  John 6:51a

God knows that the journey is long.  Do you know how to feed yourself?   Many of you go out and try to go for days and days without nourishment.  What nourishment am I talking about?  The nourishment of the Word of God.  You become angry when God hides you away in a safe place, or in the same place, and it's because you haven't learned how to take care of yourself yet.  You haven't learned to recognize when you're hungry and then stop and take your nourishment of the word of God frequently.    And remember, your food is also, once you learn to hear the word of God, listening for his voice, your food is to do what He says in his word (see John 4: 31-34) and then you will find your strength like never before.

Do you know how to find shelter?

Look at Colossians 3:12-14 again:

"(12) Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (13) Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. (14) And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."   Colossians 3:12-14

Learn where to find shelter.   As we walk together in the Lord, the Bible says we are to cover each others sins.  What does this mean?  We need to get around us the kind of people in the Lord that know how to cover over our sin and lift us up in prayer.  Once we are clothed this doesn't mean we aren't yet perfect.  For that reason it is VITAL that we surround ourselves around others that won't remind us of our shame, but of our victory in JESUS; people that bear with each other and forgive one another; if anyone has a grievance, we can be like Christ to them and cover over them in love.  These people know how to forgive as God forgave us, and this goes beyond waiting until someone does something wrong.  It's proactively lifting up the voice of one who has ability though sings poorly because of their shame and helping them, putting seeds of faith in them until the sing POWERFULLY because you've been feeding them with CAN DO power and mostly because you have covered them with love.   Find those people; they are your shelter as you are on this earth.

Now, could you say, "The Lord is my covering, I don't need anybody!"  Yes, but even Jesus walked with others because the kingdom is not singular.  The kingdom is just that: a Kingdom with a King that rule a people.  You are that people, and God commands us to love one another, forgive one another and walk together in perfect unity.   We are to learn to be each other's shelters while walking on this earth.

You learn to do those three things:  clothe yourself, feed yourself with God's word, and find great shelter, then you will find GREAT victory on this earth.

What are you Hoping and Expecting for?

I have a question for you, "What are you hoping and expecting for this morning??"

Faith is the substance of things HOPED FOR (See Hebrews 11:1).  What are you hoping for?  What are you expecting?  Can I tell you that God and all creation responds to what you are hoping for!  God wants you to EXPECT!  God wants you to have hope.  God wants you to have faith, hope, and love!  Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith (See Hebrews 12:1-3).  Exercise your faith today! Stir up your hope!  God wants you to be expecting something from Him.

What are you hoping for and expecting this morning?  Are you expecting Him to do something today?  I am!  I am lifting up my hope!  There is one particularly that I am putting my hope in God for.  God knows my heart, and I have to admit that these is a piece of my heart that says, "Just settle, and don't expect anything out of this...This is just something you can't have Jeremy, look at this situation or that situation...That one thing that God knows is so precious to you, you can't have that, Jeremy" But I am saying NO!  I know that that just means that God is saving the best for me so that He BLOWS MY MIND IN AMAZEMENT!  God is about to do a mighty work that I know I don't deserve, but God's about to do it in your life ANYWAY!

I choose to put my trust in God for what He put in my heart.  I choose to say "YES" because I know how good is my God.   Place all your hope and ALL your trust in God.  He's going to do it!

Lift up your faith!  Lift up your HOPE!  And keep bringing your LOVE!  God's about to turn your test into a testimony.  And how about this:  God's going to use that thing to not only do a miracle, but the biggest miracle is He will bring salvation to many through it !

God bless your day today!  Lift up your faith!

Take Action with a Decided Heart!

This is a quote from Andy Andrew's The Seven Decisions.  This is a great book.  I challenge you to make this your declaration:

"Beginning today, I will create a new future by creating a new me. No longer will I dwell in a pit
of despair, moaning over squandered time and lost opportunity. I can do nothing about the past.
My future is immediate. I will grasp it in both hands and carry it with running feet. When I am
faced with the choice of doing nothing or doing something, I will always choose to act! I seize this
moment. I choose now.

I am a person of action. I am energetic. I move quickly. Knowing that laziness is a sin, I will create
a habit of lively behavior. I will walk with a spring in my step and a smile on my face. The
lifeblood rushing through my veins is urging me upward and forward into activity and accomplishment.

Wealth and prosperity hide from the sluggard, but rich rewards come to the person
who moves quickly.

I am a person of action. I inspire others with my activity. I am a leader. Leading is doing. To
lead, I must move forward. Many people move out of the way for a person on the run; others are
caught up in his wake. My activity will create a wave of success for the people who follow. My
activity will be consistent. This will instill confidence in my leadership. As a leader, I have the
ability to encourage and inspire others to greatness. It is true: An army of sheep led by a lion
would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep!

I am a person of action. I can make a decision. I can make it now. A person who moves neither
left nor right is destined for mediocrity. When faced with a decision, many people say they are
waiting for God. But I understand, in most cases, God is waiting for me! He has given me a
healthy mind to gather and sort information and the courage to come to a conclusion. I am not a
quivering dog, indecisive and fearful. My constitution is strong and my pathway clear.
Successful people make their decisions quickly and change their mind slowly. Failures make
their decisions slowly and change their mind quickly. My decisions come quickly, and they lead
to victory.

I am a person of action. I am daring. I am courageous. Fear no longer has a place in my life. For
too long, fear has outweighed my desire to make things better for my family. Never again! I have
exposed fear as a vapor, an impostor who never had any power over me in the first place! I do
not fear opinion, gossip, or the idle chatter of monkeys for all are the same to me. I do not fear
failure, for in my life, failure is a myth. Failure only exists for the person who quits. I do not quit.
I am courageous. I am a leader. I seize this moment. I choose now.

I am a person of action.

A wise man once said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Knowing this
to be true, I am taking my first step today. For too long my feet have been tentative, shuffling left
and right, more backward than forward as my heart gauged the direction of the wind. Criticism,
condemnation, and complaint are creatures of the wind. They come and go on the wasted breath
of lesser beings and have no power over me. The power to control direction belongs to me. Today
I will begin to exercise that power. My course has been charted. My destiny is assured.
I have a decided heart. I am passionate about my vision for the future. I will awaken every morning
with an excitement about the new day and its opportunity for growth and change. My
thoughts and actions will work in a forward motion, never sliding into the dark forest of doubt or
the muddy quicksand of self-pity. I will freely give my vision for the future to others, and as they
see the belief in my eyes, they will follow me.

I will lay my head on my pillow at night happily exhausted, knowing that I have done everything
within my power to move the mountains in my path. As I sleep, the same dream that dominates
my waking hours will be with me in the dark. Yes, I have a dream. It is a great dream, and I will
never apologize for it. Neither will I ever let it go, for if I did, my life would be finished. My
hopes, my passions, my vision for the future is my very existence. A person without a dream
never had a dream come true.

I have a decided heart. I will not wait.

I know that the purpose of analysis is to come to a conclusion. I have tested the angles. I have
measured the probabilities. And now I have made a decision with my heart. I am not timid. I
will move now and not look back. What I put off until tomorrow, I will put off until the next day
as well. I do not procrastinate. All my problems become smaller when I confront them. If I
touch a thistle with caution, it will prick me, but if I grasp it boldly, its spines crumble into dust.
I will not wait. I am passionate about my vision for the future. My course has been charted. My
destiny is assured.

I have a decided heart."

You Lifted Me!

You lifted me up!  Out of the muck and the mire! Out of the slimy pit, you lifted me!

When we think of our issues and the messes that we are in, whether we think it was our faults or not, God wants to give us a testimony like David's:

He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
    out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.

Psalm 40:2

Sure there situations that I would like to, and you would like to be out of, but not my own testimony.  I don't want to have a testimony of what I did to get myself out of the pit.  I want my testimony to be that HE lifted me out of the muck and the mire, and the slimy pit.  He did it!   Sure I may have done something, but it all wasn't me.  It was because I trusted in the name of the Lord my God.  Not to us, not to us, but to your name be my testimony, and let my testimony be for your glory!

Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.

Psalm 115:1

We are different

We are different.  Those that are in Christ, we are to have a different testimony.   Our lives are to reflect not our awesomeness, but His goodness.  So let every testimony be that He lifted me!  He lifted me out and set my feet on solid ground.  HE lifted me!  THAT will be our testimony!  Not to us, but because we trust in the name of the Lord our God.  Amen.

If you'd like to accept Jesus into your life today, pray this simple prayer of God's love and grace today: Lord Jesus, I thank you for dying for all my sin; now Lord I invite you into my heart. We CAN reach Perfection, but not yours...

Let God define what perfection is.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Galatians 5:22-23

Photo my Phillip Cordts

"Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."
Matthew 5:48

Before knowing Christ, I tried in vain to reach perfection.  Now that I know Christ, He encourages me to reach perfection.  At first this confused me because I didn't know how, but the key is with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!  Therefore, let God define what perfection is!

When I try to define perfection for myself, I think of striving, working (which isn't bad in and of itself..) comparing, competition, being "the best" in comparison to others, which never wins, and leaves us quite empty, tired, and alone.  But the perfection that God is defining through Christ has to have it's definition come from Him, and must have the main ingredients of "humble" and love.  There is no law against love and the other fruits of the Spirit, because in them is perfection.  "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23

I want to encourage you to walk in perfection.  Strive for perfection, but strive in the perfection that God defines.   Perfection is humility, peace, patience and love and let those things define your perfection today.   You will as you walk with Him today.  :)

God bless you

Your First Love is Your First Spouse. Your First Family : )

                                                            photo from: https://sunsparkleshine.com/first-love/

Revelation 2:4 states,

"But I have this against you: You have abandoned your first love."

Another way to say, "first love" can be "Your first spouse" or "your first family".

I heard a message in my heart and it went like this:

You be faithful to your first family, your new family.  When you gave your life to Christ you have recently crossed over into this new and AMAZING family of God. Now cherish it, this wonderful family.  See your brothers Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John frequently.  Stay in communion with your wonderful good and only full of love Father who is here with only love for you.  Frequently visit your family and be faithful to them.  Get to know them more and more.  Mostly, God's one and only Son, Jesus.  Talk to Jesus.  He is your first family now.

When we give our lives to Christ, we in our hearts cut off from our former family and begin a new heritage.  We in our hearts cut from our former family and fully devote yourselves to Jesus first, because we have really been grafted into a new family.  Our hearts have been grafted into a new family.  Our devotion is in this family now, first, and always.  We let the behavior of our heavenly Father and his holy and devoted family dictate how we behave here on this earth first.   Question: Have you and your heart been truly grafted in and heart circumcised in this family, in Christ?  Then dedicate or better rededicate!  Consider having an open ceremony about this and that you have been grafted into this new family line of Jesus Christ through the precious and awesome blood, the wonderful blood of Jesus shed on the cross for our sin; the blood that purchased our salvation now and forever more!

This message is not just for those who have had a really broken earthly family, but for the "good families" as well.   Unfortunately, it's the reasonably good families that can often have a problem cutting off from their earthly family to cling completely to Christ.  They hold to their earthly family on a high pedestal, which seems like a good thing to do.  They hold to the traditions of their earthly family without first holding them to the standard of the new; they may do this without question because it looks like the "good" thing to do.   It's those who have had a fairly good family that may have a problem with this because they may not see a need to set themselves about fully to Christ, or worse yet, may never in their heart separated their heart to Christ because it looks as though they never really had to.  We do this maybe because we don't see how GREAT our new family is.  Believe me, in Christ, we have all moved up for sure!

So when we give our lives to Christ, in our hearts it is a lot like a wedding and a marriage.  Once we join with this Partner, we leave our family and we cleave. We are committed fully to our Partner til death.  Your legacy is now to that of your new husband and your name is placed together with his. And now you are grafted into the new family line.  Same with Jesus!  Amen.

I know we lose this a little in our current age and time, but we can think of it like the recent royal wedding we just recently observed.  But with Jesus it's infinitely millions and billions upon billions of times better!   With Jesus, now He is our, the churches, yours and my husband, our new Partner.  Now, what is our devotion look like? How do we show our devotion to Jesus these days?  Do we acknowledge him?  Do we speak to him?  How often?  Do we speak only of him or do also often speak to Him?  In our heart, our minds, our soul, and attitude?

You are now apart of a new family, and new family line. :)  Hallelujah.  This is parallel and can be  evident in our everyday lives.  Are we confident in our partner? We have the most faithful Partner and are grafted in a family that is more faithful than the sunrise!  We can trust in Him. Always.  Our devotion to our Jesus is similar to these two examples:  That of a child becoming adopted into a wonderful blessed family, purchased by the very blood of the First Born Son, who has all the rights of a first born son - purchased by His own blood for me.  Wow.  Amen.  Say: I am and have been grafted into a new family!  Amen!

This is also like a bride who newly marriage and heaven is having an eternal honey moon,  Your name has been changed and now you belong to a whole new family line, the family name and line of Jesus Christ     You are under a new covering.  The covering of your new spouse, Jesus Christ, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace.  Amen.  Wow.  Amen.

Now we honor this.  It would be a great dishonor to treat this as something common.  This is not common.  This is very amazing and more real than any earthly family could ever be because it is eternal.  It would be a great dishonor to not acknowledge or behave as thought this was not real in our lives.  Lord, we recommit our lives to you.  Our wonderful Heavenly Father.

My wife Kayla and I spoke about how if we are devoted to our first husband, Jesus, than we out of the overflow of our hearts will not be in such unhealthy need of others but rather be so full of the love of our first spouse, that we, out of overflow, are willing to give of ourselves openly to serve and live in such a life that only wants to bless our spouse and children.  Amen.  We have the all sufficiency in Christ through his fellowship and His wonderful word that we can reach out and help the other who is near to us.  Amen.

It's not good to suffer needlessly, and it seems that we suffer from stirring up jealousy needlessly in not being fully devoted to our first family, to our first spouse, our first love.

Revelation 2:4 states,

"But I have this against you: You have abandoned your first love."

The commitment we are speaking about is also a lot like the commitment of Ruth (read the first chapter of the book of Ruth).

Ruth said,

"Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God." Ruth 1:16b

Let's return and recommit our lives to our first family, our first spouse, our first love, JESUS.

Show our devotion to Him daily.  Let Him drive.  Let Him take the wheel. Walk with Him.  Talk with Him.  Let Him talk to you.  Fall more and more in love with Him each and everyday.  Amen.

If you'd like to accept Jesus into your life today, pray this simple prayer of God's love and grace today: Lord Jesus, I thank you for dying for all my sin; now Lord I invite you into my heart. Come and be my everything today and forever. Forgive my sin as I make You and you alone Lord in my life. Amen. Now read the book of God's love in the Bible: The book of John chapters 1-21. You Are About To Go To The NEXT LEVEL

"(6)The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain.

(7) Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites; go to all the neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the mountains, in the western foothills, in the Negev and along the coast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the Euphrates.

(8) See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them.”

-Deuteronomy 1:6-8

It's time to BREAK CAMP!  You are going to the next level.   God is bringing you into a new life and not everybody and everything from yesterday can go with you.  That's what God sometimes shakes some things off before he places you on that next platform!   You are or had you been wondering what is going on?  You are living in the RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ.  That's what's going on!  You are stepping in to new mindsets, new opportunities, new relationships (Stay wit yo spouse, that's not what I'm talking about! lol)  and new favor over your life!

God is about to BLESS all the members of my family, where the enemy tried to do whatever it's all turned around powerfully, favorably, and MIRACULOUSLY for HIS glory!

Glory to God!!!!   He makes all things new!!  He does amazing things!!

If you'd like to accept Jesus into your life today, pray this simple prayer of God's love and grace today: Lord Jesus, I thank you for dying for all my sin; now Lord I invite you into my heart. Practice TRUST

I feel like we live in a culture that asks "Tell me why" or we are all encouraged to "know our WHY," which I think has it's place, but it must never replace our "whys" with our "Trust" I don't always need to know why, but I do always need to practice my trust. I would love to write a book called, "What is your trust?" Instead of what's your why. Sometimes we don't get the "why" conveniently served to us. Then and at that point, what do we do? If we are not careful, we will forget to trust; we may forget that powerful and age-old virtue of "TRUST". Could it be true that we can be strong in our "why" but weak in our "trust"? Let's never forget to trust even if we don't know all the ends and outs of it all. Let's be strong in our trust. Trust.

Practice Trust

There is a time to know why, but never to get addicted to it as if we are entitled to know why when we don't understand, or in every time God gives us a direction. If we did, we would never need to practice trust, and practice makes better. If we have not practiced the virtue of trust then we need to take a step back and evaluate our trust, and ask, "What are we trusting in?" Our trust is our power and our righteousness. For in God we will trust. "in God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me?" Psalm 56:11  Because "Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you."  Psalm 9:10

When we don't practice trust, we lose our strength in trust and always need an explanation or we rebel. No! We will NOT live that way! We will trust in the name of the Lord our God! For Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will TRUST in the name of the LORD our God (Psalm 20:7)

When we always need to know "why," then I encourage us, let's check our trust. Is it God we are trusting or is it in ourselves, our riches, and our own wisdom? Let's pray that we look at our trust and make sure that we trust in the Lord with all our heart, and lean not on our own understanding, but in all our ways acknowledging Him and trusting that He will make all our paths straight! (Proverbs 5:6,7)

Lets Just Remember the LORD, your God

Deuteronomy 8:17-18a NIV

You may say to yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me." But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.

Let's just take today to remember the LORD, who is our God.  Let's take our eyes off of our own hands and power and strength, and focus on God, His power, His hands, His strength.  Because He is so gracious, He gives us the ability to produce wealth and have an awesome life.  Let's stop and thank Him today for His love and the great coat of righteousness He gave us through his only Son, Jesus.  God bless and keep you today.

Looking Back at God's Work : )

Just a couple of days ago, I was driving by a neighborhood I used to live in.  In this neighborhood, garbage day was once a week and we lived in a duplex, on the upper floor.   The lower floor would often not remember to take out their trash or return their trash container back to the garage from the front of the house.  I remember simply returning the trash container back and taking it out in the front without telling them about it.  I did this many times during the two years we lived there.

Fast forward to where we are today.  We live in a nicer neighborhood (to the glory of God --Thank you Lord!).  In this neighborhood, the trash persons do not require you to take your trash out but they go to your garage and you can leave your trash in front of the garage and they will pick it up!  Wow!  But not only that, but look at God here:  We have two wonderful international students who live with us.  We all decided to split the chores in our house.  I usually pick up in the family, play, living, and dining rooms.  Kayla does so many amazing things around the house, and the international students clean their rooms, their bathrooms, and they take out the garbage.   I just feel so blessed because I remember when I took out the garbage for my neighbors, and now look at God! Not only, do I need to take the garbage out to the front of the house, but I don't even need to touch the garbage at all!  I call that the grace and goodness of God who remembers and now I am seeing how God remembered me!  Praise the Lord!!

I want to encourage you to simply love your neighbors, and trust that God will later take GOOD care of you!

Amen.

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
Luke 6:38

What are your 2018 Goals? :)

Some have said that it's no use having a "New Year's Resolution."  They say, "Why have a goal if you're just going to not do it??"  That's true, but I think if we have given up on our resolutions we don't realize that these are simply goals, and it is ALWAYS good to have a goal.  The fact is we all have goals; New Year's Resolutions just give us permission to vocalize those goals and let them be known.  New Year's Resolutions are like Christmas...We have an attitude around Christmas that we actually need to carry throughout the year (that right there sounds like a good New Years Resolution!).

So since we now know that a New Year's Resolution is a "permission granted" for us to let our goals be known, why not take full advantage of them and share them with others, get serious and get the accountability coaches that we need to get it done.  These resolutions will be the ones that take us to a level that we have only been dreaming of.  I support you in this.  You got a prayer partner here!

So we are half way done with January.  What are you New Year's Resolutions?  What how are they doing?  You will exceed them! You will be so blessed today and this year!  God bless you.

Once again, God bless you today!
