Your First Love is Your First Spouse. Your First Family : )

Revelation 2:4 states,

"But I have this against you: You have abandoned your first love."

Another way to say, "first love" can be "Your first spouse" or "your first family".

I heard a message in my heart and it went like this:

You be faithful to your first family, your new family.  When you gave your life to Christ you have recently crossed over into this new and AMAZING family of God. Now cherish it, this wonderful family.  See your brothers Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John frequently.  Stay in communion with your wonderful good and only full of love Father who is here with only love for you.  Frequently visit your family and be faithful to them.  Get to know them more and more.  Mostly, God's one and only Son, Jesus.  Talk to Jesus.  He is your first family now.

When we give our lives to Christ, we in our hearts cut off from our former family and begin a new heritage.  We in our hearts cut from our former family and fully devote yourselves to Jesus first, because we have really been grafted into a new family.  Our hearts have been grafted into a new family.  Our devotion is in this family now, first, and always.  We let the behavior of our heavenly Father and his holy and devoted family dictate how we behave here on this earth first.   Question: Have you and your heart been truly grafted in and heart circumcised in this family, in Christ?  Then dedicate or better rededicate!  Consider having an open ceremony about this and that you have been grafted into this new family line of Jesus Christ through the precious and awesome blood, the wonderful blood of Jesus shed on the cross for our sin; the blood that purchased our salvation now and forever more!

This message is not just for those who have had a really broken earthly family, but for the "good families" as well.   Unfortunately, it's the reasonably good families that can often have a problem cutting off from their earthly family to cling completely to Christ.  They hold to their earthly family on a high pedestal, which seems like a good thing to do.  They hold to the traditions of their earthly family without first holding them to the standard of the new; they may do this without question because it looks like the "good" thing to do.   It's those who have had a fairly good family that may have a problem with this because they may not see a need to set themselves about fully to Christ, or worse yet, may never in their heart separated their heart to Christ because it looks as though they never really had to.  We do this maybe because we don't see how GREAT our new family is.  Believe me, in Christ, we have all moved up for sure!

So when we give our lives to Christ, in our hearts it is a lot like a wedding and a marriage.  Once we join with this Partner, we leave our family and we cleave. We are committed fully to our Partner til death.  Your legacy is now to that of your new husband and your name is placed together with his. And now you are grafted into the new family line.  Same with Jesus!  Amen.

I know we lose this a little in our current age and time, but we can think of it like the recent royal wedding we just recently observed.  But with Jesus it's infinitely millions and billions upon billions of times better!   With Jesus, now He is our, the churches, yours and my husband, our new Partner.  Now, what is our devotion look like? How do we show our devotion to Jesus these days?  Do we acknowledge him?  Do we speak to him?  How often?  Do we speak only of him or do also often speak to Him?  In our heart, our minds, our soul, and attitude?

You are now apart of a new family, and new family line. :)  Hallelujah.  This is parallel and can be  evident in our everyday lives.  Are we confident in our partner? We have the most faithful Partner and are grafted in a family that is more faithful than the sunrise!  We can trust in Him. Always.  Our devotion to our Jesus is similar to these two examples:  That of a child becoming adopted into a wonderful blessed family, purchased by the very blood of the First Born Son, who has all the rights of a first born son - purchased by His own blood for me.  Wow.  Amen.  Say: I am and have been grafted into a new family!  Amen!

This is also like a bride who newly marriage and heaven is having an eternal honey moon,  Your name has been changed and now you belong to a whole new family line, the family name and line of Jesus Christ     You are under a new covering.  The covering of your new spouse, Jesus Christ, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace.  Amen.  Wow.  Amen.

Now we honor this.  It would be a great dishonor to treat this as something common.  This is not common.  This is very amazing and more real than any earthly family could ever be because it is eternal.  It would be a great dishonor to not acknowledge or behave as thought this was not real in our lives.  Lord, we recommit our lives to you.  Our wonderful Heavenly Father.

My wife Kayla and I spoke about how if we are devoted to our first husband, Jesus, than we out of the overflow of our hearts will not be in such unhealthy need of others but rather be so full of the love of our first spouse, that we, out of overflow, are willing to give of ourselves openly to serve and live in such a life that only wants to bless our spouse and children.  Amen.  We have the all sufficiency in Christ through his fellowship and His wonderful word that we can reach out and help the other who is near to us.  Amen.

It's not good to suffer needlessly, and it seems that we suffer from stirring up jealousy needlessly in not being fully devoted to our first family, to our first spouse, our first love.

Revelation 2:4 states,

"But I have this against you: You have abandoned your first love."

The commitment we are speaking about is also a lot like the commitment of Ruth (read the first chapter of the book of Ruth).

Ruth said,

"Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God." Ruth 1:16b

Let's return and recommit our lives to our first family, our first spouse, our first love, JESUS.

Show our devotion to Him daily.  Let Him drive.  Let Him take the wheel. Walk with Him.  Talk with Him.  Let Him talk to you.  Fall more and more in love with Him each and everyday.  Amen.

If you'd like to accept Jesus into your life today, pray this simple prayer of God's love and grace today: Lord Jesus, I thank you for dying for all my sin; now Lord I invite you into my heart. Come and be my everything today and forever. Forgive my sin as I make You and you alone Lord in my life. Amen. Now read the book of God's love in the Bible: The book of John chapters 1-21. God promises He will guide your life. Pray and ask God to bring the right people into your life. God will guide you to the right church full of people who love His words in the Bible. Our God is so faithful. God bless you today.
